Za'atar Pita Chips with Yogurt Dip

I wanted to share another recipe that I wanted to try using a seasoning blend I got from Raw Spice Bar.  Last month, I used the Cumin & Oregano Rub for this recipe (click here), but this month, I decided to try the Sumac & Sesame Za’atar seasoning.  See the recipe that I adapted from: http://www.thekitchn.com/weeknight-snack-recipe-zaatar-156151

Za'atar Pita Chips with Yogurt Dip

You will need:

4 tablespoons Sumac & Sesame Za'atar

5 tablespoons olive oil

2 large pitas (or 4 small size pitas)

1 cup plain greek yogurt

1 tablespoon chopped basil (or mint leaves)

1 small garlic clove, grated or minced

1/8 teaspoon salt

Prep Time: 15 minutes. Serves 4.

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.  Combine the za'atar seasoning and olive oil in a small bowl to form a paste.  Cut the pita open around the edges to create two rounds. Repeat with remaining pita.

2. Place pita rounds on a baking sheet, rough side (insides) facing up.  Spread the za'atar mixture over the pita rounds, leave some space around the edges of the pita.  Bake the pita until edges are golden, about 5-7 minutes.

3. In a separate bowl, combine the yogurt, basil leaves, garlic and salt.  Once the pita cools down, cut the pita into wedges and serve with the yogurt dip.

This was such a fun snack to make, and I had to resist eating it all at once by myself!
