March 2018 Recap!

March has been such an eventful month full of tastings and collaborations.  It could be because of Daylight Savings Time, but I'm not complaining!  Enjoy my recap from March's events!

1. Bronx Sandwich Co (Tustin, CA) - @eatersanonymous @tpham

Bronx Sandwich Co. was promoting a new location in Costa Mesa.  I visited the Tustin location and checked out some of their amazing sandwiches.  I got The Bronx Club, The Boss, and The Yankee from their sandwich menu, and also tried their Manhattan Street Fries and the Pear and Gorgonzola Salad.  It was a very balanced and delicious meal!

2. Sunmerry Happy Lemon (Gardena, CA) - @misspiggieeats

Sunmerry recently opened a new location in Gardena so I visited the new store and tried some pastries and a few of their drinks, including the Strawberry Matcha Milk and the Strawberry Chocolate Milk.  I got to take home a box of their cute and delicious pastries!

3. Slider Stop and Blazin’ Hens (Redondo Beach, CA) - @misspiggieeats

After Sunmerry, I was invited to a tasting at Slider Stop, which had some amazing sliders and fries, tater tots, and coleslaw.  They also started a new Nashville concept within the restaurant, called Blazin’ Hens, serving fried chicken. The chicken was so juicy and they offered 7 levels of spice to choose from.  I could only handle Medium Spicy, but overall, it was a very delicious fried chicken!

4. Limericks Tavern (Alhambra, CA)

Limericks Tavern invited me to check out their St. Patrick’s menu, which featured Corned Beef & Cabbage, Shepherd's Pie, Bangers & Mash, and Fish & Chips.  They were also serving green beer and cocktails, so I ended up getting a Moscow Mule. From the food I tried, everything was very delicious and the menu was very festive.

5. Fig at 7th (Los Angeles, CA) - @therosegrp

Fig at 7th wanted me to visit and help promote National Noodle Month.  This my first time visiting this shopping center and I was in love with the offerings at the eatery.  Places like New Moon Cafe, Oleego by Parks BBQ, and Gentaro Soba served some awesome noodle dishes. I was impressed with how I was able to get delicious dishes from a mall food court!

6. Amorino Gelato (Beverly Hills, CA)

I had always visited Amorino Gelato in Las Vegas but this was my first time stopping by the Beverly Hills location.  I got to learn that each of their gelato cones were served in a rose shape and that all of their gelato were imported directly from Italy.  I also tried something beyond the gelato cones: a Sorbet Frappe! It was so fruity, smooth and easy to drink and I enjoyed it very much.

7. Harmony Tea Bar (Mission Viejo, CA) - @eatersanonymous @tpham

I was invited to check out this spot in Mission Viejo and I loved it.  It was such a cute cafe and they served some yummy pastries! I enjoyed a Kouign-amann along with my Lavender Earl Grey Milk Tea and Raspberry Oolong Tea.  The quality of the teas were amazing, as they made each drink fresh to order.

8. Kiddo’s Creamery (Glendale, CA) - @foodatory

I got to check out this cute ice cream shop in Glendale, located just north of the Americana and Glendale Galleria.  I loved the flavor options they had here, and it was hard to decide what to order! I ended up getting a chocolate cone with Coffee and Oreo, and Genmaicha scoops.  They offered other fun menu items too, such as floats and ice cream sandwiches!

Other March events/collaborations:

Orange County Restaurant Week was celebrating its 10th Anniversary as the region's most celebrated culinary event, offering a variety of options, from casual to upscale, and at different price points too.  The OC Restaurant Week Launch Party was an amazing event, showcasing delicious offerings from some of the participating restaurants and few drinks and cocktails from the events sponsors.

Bobaful invited me to participate in a paint night event at MJ Cafe in Walnut.  What was unique about this paint night was that it included boba. It was a very fun and interactive event!

Stonewall Kitchen wanted to share some of their amazing products.  I had already used some of their products through Milk and Eggs but was very surprised at the even greater selection of products on Stonewall Kitchen’s website.  I chose to get the Ghost Pepper Queso, Fire Roasted Salsa, and Lime & Sea Salt Corn Tortilla Chips.

I was happy to do another collaboration with Daniel Wellington.  My previous collaboration was in December 2016, and the watch was a white face, large diameter, and a leather strap.  This time, I purposely chose a watch that was the opposite, with a black face, smaller diameter, and metal strap.
